Meeting Rooms

 

The Southern Maryland Higher Education Center offers over 40 meeting rooms totaling 25,799 sq/ft of dedicated meeting space. Rooms include our Center Hall that can seat 430 or 140 in each of the three sections, a Multi-Purpose Room seating 120, two Lecture Rooms seating 50, 30 Meeting Rooms seating 15-30, five 25 station Computer Labortories, and two Board Rooms seating 10-16. There are laser projectors and computers in all rooms.

Supply Chain Executive Education

Penn State Executive Programs is pleased to be partnering with the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center in the delivery of top-ranked supply chain education programs designed to strengthen your skills in this complex area. Master the interactions of materials, products, processes, and information that need to be synchronized across time and geography in today’s supply chains.

• Earn a Certificate in Supply Chain Management by completing the first three programs below.

• Earn Penn State Continuing Education Units (CEUs) based on a standard of one unit per 10 hours of classroom instruction.

Essentials of Supply Chain Management

This program offers a foundational understanding of how to manage effective supply chains. Students learn common terminology, inventory methodologies, distribution concepts, and service performance. Topics include concepts of pooling, postponement, and other inventory deployment strategies; customer service management; industry case study on trading partner collaboration; and team-based simulation for applied learning. Earn a certificate of completion for this course and three CEUs.

February 21-23, 2012 • 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. • $2,500 (including materials)

Achieving Supply Chain Transformation

This program shows how the best-in-class companies adapt their supply chains to the changing environment to improve competitive position. Students gain in-depth understanding of the critical elements of adaptive supply chain management through a business model called “pico™” and a step-by-step methodology of strategies and capabilities for supply chain innovation and transformation. Topics include change management and implications for supply chain strategy; leadership for transformation; dimensions of high-performing operating models; and case studies in transformation. Earn a certificate of completion for this course and three CEUs.

April 17-19, 2012 • 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. • $2,500 (including materials)

Supply Chain Engineering for Financial Performance

Supplemental Course

This capstone program improves overall strategic leadership of supply chain, engineering, and procurement decisions. Students will learn how their decisions impact overall financial performance on the organization, take away a better understanding of key financial concepts and how to apply them in evaluating decisions and assessing program risk as well as analyzing competitors and suppliers. Topics include finance for non-financial managers; macroeconomic factors; supply chain finance; and supply chain case studies. Earn a certificate of completion for this course.

The Southern Maryland Higher Education Center was established by the State of Maryland in 1994 to provide a regional facility with state of the art technology to serve the university and professional training needs of the Southern Maryland region.  Today, the Center hosts over 90 graduate university degree programs and 13 bachelor completion degree programs, presented in their entirety at SMHEC by ten distinguished university partners in the professional fields of engineering; education; management; clinical and community counseling, and school counseling; information technology; business administration; technical management; communications; and human resources, financial, health care, marketing and project management.
